Hairdresser anxiety, is it just me?

My MIL got her hair cut on Wednesday. It was a pretty dramatic change but it looks great.
It started us talking about hairdressers, the good and the bad.

I know alot of women (especially mums) view having their hair cut and coloured a indulgent treat. A few hours to enjoy child free and completely focused on them even if you do pay through the nose for the privilege.

I love changing my hair (even if 90% of the time I end up with "mum hair" which is impossible to make look polished and fashionable)

But I hate the hairdresser.

For me it's a chore rather than a luxury.

It makes me stressed. Even when you explain why you want or bring along a photo there is still that margin of personal interpretation that means the difference between funky mid 20s hair and looking like you are heading towards the blue rinse age bracket.

I'm also not a fan of the hair washing business. It's probably just because I'm a bit of a control freak.

So am I the only one who gets a pit in their stomach when they know it's coming up to haircut time?

Any horror stories about hairdresser visits?

Hope you are all having a great weekend.

Cheers.

Cie.

I'm thinking I should just invest in a great hat to extend the time between hair appointments. ;)

  1. I have once had a crap hair cut and had to live with it but then it's just hair. I love my hair now and go to the best hairdresser as I bring in a photo and he just go's to town on my hair it's amazing.

  2. I see it as a chore too. But not because I never get he cut I want, I just go get a trim and I hate sitting still for so long! Plus hate the small talk :p

  3. I last had a haircut at the hairdresser 6 years ago, it looked good but really it was just a slightly better version of what I went in with- 2hours before with $200 extra in my pocket! SO I now have long hair I taught myself to trim via youtube and I play with the fringe for a style change. Now, no more hairdresser stress and many $$$ saved!

  4. I have had MANY disasters since moving to Toowoomba & Brisbane..
So for the last 3 years i've gone back to my childhood hairdresser..even though she's 4hrs away in Grafton. I am always happy with it, if not ecstatic. I love her! Definately wont be changing again :)

  5. I rarely go and get it done. I find it painful because of the whole interacting with someone I don't know. You see the time between visits is so great that I never get the same person twice. I love having my hair played with and since I once had it all shaved off I am not too worried if by chance I get a bad cut.

  7. hey girls if youre in Perth and dont want to pay stupid prices then please go see MY hairdresser in Bassendean at Cut 925 in Old Perth Road ! I see her every week, her and her wonderful team of girls are extremely cheap (Im talking CHEAP!) but I guarantee you will be going back every week , you dont get snobbishness or pretentiousness, the girls are lovely (awesome head massages !) Its a small salon but it gets busy and she had a solid reputation!!! Last but not least the service is top notch, theyre not pushy and treat each client with respect! Go see them, you will not be disappointed!
